Apparently Zante was attractive to even pre-historic humans. Archeological exploration has turned up evidence of human presence on the island as early as the Neolithic Age. Apparently not even early man could resist all Zante has to offer. The waters off the coast of Zante are calm and clear. It is ideal for snorkeling and Scuba Diving in Zante. There are locations where both novices and experts can have fun. Scuba divers from all over the world challenge themselves to explore the amazing blue underwater caves of Zante. The combination of the bright sunshine, white cave floors and walls and the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea creates glowing blue caves, some of which lead under the island (more info on Tours in Zante). Money Saving Tip #6 Use Travelex.com to get the best rates on your currency (better than the Post Office!). Navagio Beach is a location you must visit in Zante. Located on the southwest of this island this cove is isolated. You will have to take a boat to get there. The bay and the beach are covered with milk white pebbles and surrounded by cliffs. It is an amazing sight. The mountain village of Keri is another place any visitor to Zante must see. The village offers a panoramic view of the southern end of the island overlooking the Ionian Sea. Visit the lighthouse and be sure to see the incredible rock formations running along the coast between Keri and Skinari. Money Saving Tip #2 Book your hotel through Booking.com and get the lowest rate for your hotel..guaranteed! One of the most amazing sights is witnessing the nesting rituals of the rare, endangered loggerhead turtle. The turtles nest in the National Marine Park in the Bay of Laganas. The female loggerheads crawl onto the beach and bury their eggs. Fifty-five days later thousands of new hatchlings stream towards the surf. It's an unforgettable sight.
